Vosteed Corgi Folding Knife review

REVIEW – If you like knives but haven't heard of Vosteed yet you are going to be glad you read this. I’ve reviewed a few of their impressive knives so far including the Vosteed Racoon folding knife. So when they asked me to review their new knife named after another furry animal how could I say no? Let's see what the Vosteed Corgi folding knife has to offer.

The Corgi is Vosteed's latest EDC knife with an elegant symmetrical design. There are four variations to choose from but all have a 2.99" 14C28N modified drop point blade with a flat grind. The Vosteed Corgi comes with either black or green micarta handles and the green handle has the option of a silver stonewashed or PVD black stonewashed blade. There is also a grey G10 handle option which comes with white spacers instead of brass and a satin blade. The Corgi features a manual button or plunge lock which Vosteed calls their Trek Lock design. The Corgi utilizes ball bearings on the pivot to allow the flipper to smoothly open the blade.

The Vosteed Corgi folding knife comes with a bit extra than most knives these days. When I opened the package I found a cardboard sleeve encasing a tin box with another nice soft pouch inside with the knife and a bunch of extra swag such as a Corgi sticker and velcro patch. Nice extra touches that you don't see too often these days.

Right out of the box, I’m digging (are the kids still saying that) the styling of the Vosteed Corgi, it's totally rad. I love the clean symmetrical design and the brass inserts. It adds some class and really makes it look more refined.

The modified drop point blade is probably one of the most common folding knife blade shapes and at 2.99" is an extremely usable size but keeps the handle at a svelte 4.18" which fits nicely in all my pockets and at only 3.44 oz it won't weigh your pocket down.

There are four variants to choose from with black or green micarta and the grey in G10 but all have steel skeletonized liners and Sandvik 14C28N blade steel which is a great mid-range steel known for excellent toughness and corrosion resistance.

I found the micarta very comfortable in the hand with good grip even when wet. Vosteed calls the locking mechanism Trek Lock and it is very smooth and solid with great lock up and absolutely no play in the blade. I especially like the centered placement of the lock and found it located right where your thumb wants to naturally sit. It's easy to press and just flick the blade open but I prefer to use the flipper which has just enough jimping to get good contact for quick engagement.

The Vosteed Corgi folding knife comes with an engraved stainless steel pocket clip that sits in the pocket at a perfect depth. There is a pin on the butt that allows a lanyard to be looped underneath if so desired. Lefties may be disappointed since it is not reversible.

With the clean classy design, smooth ball bearing pivot, micarta or G10 handles, easy to use plunge lock, and extras like the soft case I would have expected this knife to cost at least $100 more than its low $59 price tag. Vosteed has hit another home run with the Corgi folding knife so grab one before they run out.
